The Sadness that
Someone’s hide
Behind a smile
Can not be seen by
The naked eye.
The envy in someone’s heart
Can not be seen by
The naked eye.
The yearning that
Burns in someone’s soul
Can not be seen by
The naked eye.
Feeling hurt, the broken spirit,
The weary soul…
All this and more
Can not be seen by
The naked eye.
The thoughts that float
In my my mind, flashes of
Past memories that
Dance around deep
Inside…
Surrounds me with
A bubble of my own
Reality so far apart
Than yours who sits here
Beside me sipping your coffee.
Storms that rage in the
Horizon within, while I
Seem calm. Clouds of doubt
That may block the sun
Of trust, are kept there
Building walls of resentment.
Somethings better left
Unseen, unrevealed, but
Other things are better
Felt by you, only if you
Try to see through
The bubble.

The summation is good. None of these things may be seen, but they may be felt, if you’re in the presence of an empath.

Exactly the point! Empathy, compassion, reaching out, decoding of nonverbal cues… human traits that can make our world a better place to be.

There is a lot going on underneath all of our outside façades – and being able to read it can allow us to connect more deeply with each other. Lovely poem!
